The Sumba Man on a Stand

These simple stone statues originate from the Indonesian island of Sumba and are hand-carved from sandstone by local artisans. In traditional Sumba villages, statues like these are placed in and around the entrance of the hut, offering protection and healing to the inhabitants within.
